A Timeless Creed: Visualizing 1700 Years of Faith and Historyy.
"And in One Lord Jesus Christ" is a 20-minute historical mini-documentary produced to commemorate the 1,700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council. Driven by pure historical narrative, the film explores the events, figures, and theological milestones of a council that shaped the course of religious history.
Gullwing was entrusted with the complete end-to-end production of the documentary. From filming on location across key historical and religious sites in Athens and Thessaloniki, to handling the entirety of the post-production process—including offline/online editing, color grading, sound design, and motion graphics—we ensured a unified and highly cinematic creative vision from the first take to the final master.
Setting the visual tone
Approaching this historical piece with our signature cinematic rigor, we conducted extensive research to establish a visual identity that felt both period-appropriate and modern. We meticulously curated color palettes, elegant typography, and a cohesive design language that flowed seamlessly from the custom Logo Reveal and Title Sequence down to the clean, informative Lower Thirds.
Breathing life into mosaics and archives
A purely historical documentary relies heavily on static artifacts. To visually enrich the narrative and keep the viewer engaged, we applied advanced motion design techniques to ancient mosaics, frescoes, and archival photographs. By utilizing 3D camera projection on 2D images alongside 2.5D Parallax effects, we generated dynamic, sweeping virtual camera movements (pans, tilts, and tracking shots) over flat artworks, adding depth, scale, and motion to centuries-old visuals.
